Chin Augmentation Overview

What is Chin Augmentation?

Chin augmentation surgery, or “genioplasty,” does more than add volume to your chin; it enhances your jawline and creates harmony among your features. This custom procedure involves an incision beneath the chin. A custom chin implant is then fitted around the chin structure to add volume and projection, for a more proportionate face.

Benefits of Chin Augmentation in Palo Alto

Chin augmentation in Palo Alto helps refine facial balance by improving chin projection and overall jawline harmony. A well-proportioned chin can subtly enhance the relationship between the nose, forehead, and lower face for a more cohesive profile.

For patients from Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Atherton, chin augmentation can offer benefits such as:

  • Improved facial balance and proportion by strengthening a recessed or small chin
  • Enhanced jawline definition for a more structured lower face profile
  • More harmonious side profile, especially in relation to the nose and neck
  • Customized results using a chin implant tailored to your anatomy and aesthetic goals
  • Natural-looking enhancement designed to complement your existing features rather than overpower them

At the core of the procedure is the precision placement of a custom chin implant that integrates with the natural bone structure, helping create long-term facial harmony.

Anesthesia options

Chin augmentation requires anesthesia, which may be local with intravenous sedation, or general anesthesia. Chin augmentation is an outpatient procedure. After it is completed, you will be released to an adult caregiver to transport you home, as you will be unable to drive due to the lingering effects of anesthesia.

Follow up

Every detail of your aftercare is provided to you. We will see you for follow-up appointments to ensure you are healing quickly and correctly. The healing process takes a few weeks to months. And as the swelling fades, your new look is revealed – with your new chin shape a lovely enhancement for your features. Your chin will be bandaged for a day or two, with a compression garment to limit any swelling.
